InterApp Copy for the iPhone

…this is technically against our blog rules, but we’ve been out of the spotlight for a while, so this will give you diehards something to read at least.

I’ve been on vacation/job swapping, sorry for the ridiculously long time in between posts…
Here’s my thoughts on OpenClip… it’s nothing special, at all. The website that Jon referenced has all of the reasons in it why this is just plain silly so let me quote them:
OpenClip is not a standalone app but rather a technology that developers can incorporate into their iPhone applications, should they choose to participate.
Lame. So let me get this straight, this won’t let me copy between Mail and Safari unless Apple participates… riiiiiight.
iPhone users will be able to copy and paste from one OpenClip application to the next, but not to developer applications that aren’t participating or to Apple’s own iPhone apps, such as its e-mail client or the Safari browser.
My point exactly.
Apple has acknowledged that copy-paste functionality will be officially coming to the iPhone
Look, I aplaud the guy for his attempt. It’s more than most people have done and it’s fine for those apps that have OpenClip built in. The reality though is that when Emporer Steve does finally bless us with cut/copy/paste it will be the grandest in all the land because it will work throughout the core of the OS and not just those one or two apps that use some other dude’s code.
I rate this “app” as Supa-Lame.
Lata web pimps!

p.s. What Jon means by “against our blog rules” is that since this is a “tech blog by Brad and Jon” we decided that we would both add our thoughts to every post but since I was MIA for a few weeks he just went for it. For his actions he won’t get his next paycheck. Of course, we have to make money first… :)
